Were your Euro Locks fitted before 2012? - Then Read This!
Lock-snapping is an age old technique used by criminals to break into your home. Please see our video on the Home Page! Almost 25% of burglaries are done by this method.
Older style "Euro" locks fitted prior to 2012 are mainly of such a very basic design, they can easily be snapped in half allowing the burglar to gain access through your door. It doesn't matter how many hooks, bolts and rollers you have on the edge of your door, once the Euro cylinder lock has been "breached" your door can be opened in seconds!
The good news is that there are certain steps you can take to prevent this happening.
1. Take a look at the picture A) below. Does your lock stick out more than 5 mm? If this is the case then you need to get it changed as soon as possible so that your new lock is more or less flush with the handles face plate as shown in picture B). (maximum protrusion should me no more than about 4 mm).
2. Was your lock fitted prior to the year 2012? Even if you've had it replaced more recently there is a still a chance it's a basic poor design. It really should be removed from the door to discover if it's safe against "snapping". We can do this for you and advise you as to whether it needs replacing or not.
The bare minimum requirement these days is for an "Anti-Snap" and "Anti-Drill" lock. These we provide and fit from a basic price of just £60. Obviously there are more complex and therefore even more secure locks available which come at a higher price. See our "Special Offers" page.
